Relations with the Self Psychology (Anatolia) Group in the Founding Process of Psike Istanbul
This talk will first give a brief overview of the history of the Anatolian Group of Psychoanalytic Psychotherapies, which was formed as an informal structure before the establishment of Psike Istanbul.
Then, the relations with the Anatolian Group in the process of Psike Istanbul’s establishment in 2003 and its becoming one of the two local organizing associations of psychoanalytic formation under IPA sponsorship and supervision in 2004 will be discussed. Many members of the Anatolia Group have been involved in the candidacy process and have served at various levels of the association. Today, there are some of them who are analysts and/or training analysts.
The establishment of Psike İstanbul was a gathering of members of some other informal groups such as the Anatolian group. These members of the Anatolian group, who were originally representatives of the Self Psychology approach, became one of the building blocks of a pluralistic psychoanalytic association by creating interactions and engaging in productive dialogues with candidates and analysts close to other approaches in Psike Istanbul.
