Introduction to Melanie Klein’s Work

Hanna Segal’s book Introduction to Melanie Klein’s Work, one of the classics of psychoanalysis, has been published with the translation of Melis Tanık Sivri, one of our association’s education analysts.
With this book, we are also happy to launch a new sub-series at Psike Istanbul Psychoanalysis Library: “Masters of Psychoanalysis”. Very soon, we will give you the good news of new works to be released from this series.
The original thinker Hanna Segal (1918-2011), an analysand and follower of Melanie Klein, manages to convey the thought of Melanie Klein (1882-1960), the pioneer of Object Relations theory (1882-1960), with her Introduction to Melanie Klein’s Work. The book includes the early work of Melanie Klein, one of the first female psychoanalysts with groundbreaking discoveries in the field of child analysis, as well as Klein’s psychopathology of phantasy, paranoid-schizoid position, envy, paranoid-schizoid position, depressive position, manic defenses, reparation and early Oedipus complex. It includes his original contributions to psychoanalysis as well as an appendix on the technique.
Enriched with Hanna Segal’s clinical examples, Introduction to Melanie Klein’s Work constitutes a bedside book that can be easily read before or alongside Klein’s original texts by psychoanalysts and candidates, mental health professionals and students who are interested in Melanie Klein’s theory at different levels. The book includes a chronological list of all of Klein’s publications as well as a list of publications translated into Turkish to date.
