Psike İstanbul, in the 2018 event of “One Theory, One Master”, is hosting a study bringing together the views of Joyce McDougall and Jacques Press. In the study titled “One Body for Two”, we are going to listen one of the masters of psychoanalysis, child and adolescent psychoanalyst Joyce McDougall, from Jacques Press, one of the important names of today’s psychoanalysis, who has been inspired by McDougall’s authentic contributions to psychoanalytic theory and psychosomatic.

JOYCE MCDOUGALL (1920-2011) has worked in England and in France as child and adolescent psychoanalyst. She has developed her own model by examining somatization processes, which she named as “archaic hysteria” or “one body for two”, in psychosomatic patients.
JACQUES PRESS is full member and training analyst in Swiss Psychoanalytical Society and Paris Psychosomatic Institute. The issue of transference and countertransference, which requires special attention in the field of psychosomatic, constitutes the focus of his views.
ATTENDANCE: Conference is open to public. Case Study is open to mental health professionals.
LANGUAGE: English with simultaneous translation. LOCATION: American Hospital, Nişantaşı-İstanbul
