Psike Istanbul Psychoanalytic Library Conferences 11

This book, which is the collection of presented papers at 11th Psychoanalytic Views Symposium organized by Istanbul Psychoanalytic Association for Training, Research and Development (Psike Istanbul) at the Bosphorus University in the previous year, presents various examples regarding how to look through the lenses of psychoanalysis at the migration issue that has been becoming a bitter reality for all of us day by day as a result of the impacts entailed by globalization and war. In this selection, in which the articles are written up by experts in their fields, not only the influences of migration on the psyche are evaluated, but the effects on the psychoanalysis itself are also examined in a reflexive frame. We hope Psychoanalysis and Migration to become a valuable resource for the ones, whom conduct their studies on the psychoanalytic field and think on migration.

“In fact, every major move changes both the human related and non-human related components, which are extremely entwined. When we leave a place, we lose both our friends and relatives, and our connections with the neighborhood. The same process applies when we come to a new place: Not only do we meet different people, but we also encounter unfamiliar places, the climate and the architecture. Changes in human and changes in non-human environment coexist when it comes to migration and deportation.”
