Benjamin Kilborne<\/b>,\u00a0Benjamin Kilborne is an IPA member American training analyst. After graduating from the piano department of The Julliard School in\u00a0New York, he completed two PhDs at Sorbonne University Department of Anthropology and the Southern California Psychoanalytic Institute at\u00a0Los Angeles. A student of Roland Barhtes and Georges Devereux, Kilborne has taught courses in anthropology, history and philosophy of social sciences in addition to his work in psychoanalysis. He has authored almost a hundred articles, which have been translated to numerous languages. His work titled\u00a0Interpr\u00e9tetations du r\u00eave au Maroc<\/i>\u00a0(1978) is the first example of comparative dream interpretation studies based on the dreams in Freud\u2019s work. His second book,\u00a0La culture et la Nature Humaine: Les \u00e9crits de Melford Spirol<\/i>\u00a0(1987) is about cultural defenses. His book titled\u00a0Disappearing Persons: Shame and Appearance\u00a0<\/i>(2002), also translated into Italian, represents a new approach combining clinical cases and the discussion of literary works with an anthropological perspective. Kilborne\u2019s latest book has been translated into Turkish. \u201cUtan\u00e7 ve Haset, G\u00f6r\u00fcn\u00fcm Kayg\u0131s\u0131 ve Kem G\u00f6z\u201d\u00a0is currently in press.<\/p>\n
In his speech titled \u201cShame, Envy and the Evil Eye\u201d, Kilborne will address issues which play a key role in literature and popular culture that remain largely unexplored in psychoanalytic literature from a clinical psychoanalysis framework.<\/p>\n
