The\u00a0Psychoanalytic Views\u00a0<\/b>,<\/b>\u00a0which will be organized for the seventh time this year, will explore the subject of siblings. Siblings, who have existed through passionate relations filled with emotions of love or hate in the lives or fantasies of most of us since our very first years of childhood, are almost lapsed into silence in psychoanalytic theory.<\/p>\n

Siblings have a determining role in the structuring of our psyche, as well as shaping the ways in which we build our family and social relations. The approach of psychoanalysis evolving around the parent-child relationship and the Oedipus complex surely constitutes the basis of the theory. In our symposium this year we will discuss the subject of siblings by incorporating this horizontal axis to psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice.<\/p>\n

We can postulate that siblings are at the core of diverse social constructions and many social relations including that of the parent and child psychologically. The problems we experience in early childhood with our siblings and our means of overcoming these shape our social relations in our adult life.<\/p>\n

Most of us have had a brother or a sister; we might have wanted to have a sibling or perhaps have dreaded it. This situation is of vital social and psychological importance; therefore peers take the place of siblings. Together we will try to understand these relationships, positioned on the horizontal plane, that start with siblings and continue with kinships and friendships with peers.<\/p>\n

We invite you to the symposium to discuss together the present and potential pathology of the human being, and the relation between our loves and lives, hatreds and deaths through the notion of siblings.<\/p>\n
