This book, which emerged through the presentations of the symposium titled “Separation” organized by Istanbul Psychoanalytic Association<\/span> for Training, Research and Development<\/span> (Psike Istanbul) put into written from, approaches the theme of separation occupying a very comprehensive place in the psychoanalytic literature from a wide range of perspectives including the first separation which starts with the abandonment<\/span> of the womb, and the process between getting old and separating from life.<\/p>\n Separation hence, is for the sake of return, and its necessity lies<\/span> in this, that it differentiates the satisfaction phase by enriching its content. Without the reliable alternation of the positive with the negative<\/span> that is accentuated by separation, there could be no development<\/span>, only instead, an infinite<\/span> state of undifferentiated union – an entropy akin to death.<\/p>\n Chris Joannidis <\/i><\/p>\n The present situation of our country and the world, keeps our issues of separation and loss<\/span> constantly alive. People are dying, losing their freedom; houses, cities are being destroyed, we are losing our sense of safety; values, images, which used to define the society<\/span> in which we lived back in the days, are breaking down or disappearing. Our individual and group identities are under a threat of loss<\/span>. It’s becoming hard to think, to imagine the future, we become anxious. In short, we seem to have fallen into an overwhelming experience of loss<\/span>. So many things we have to leave and mourn…<\/p>\n Pınar Limnili Özeren <\/i><\/p>\n What kind of social consequences of not being able to separate in a healthy way from the mother<\/span>’s body, which evokes both an intensive sense of beauty and uncanny<\/span> feelings in the baby can there be? For example, can we approach the growing intolerance, restrictions, and violence in the world and in our country against woman’s body in this context?
