SUMMARY:INFANT\, CHILD\, ADOLESCENT PSYCHOANALYSIS SEMINARS 2009- 2010 PROGRAM
DESCRIPTION:INFANT\, CHILD\, ADOLESCENT PSYCHOANALYSIS SEMINARS\n\nChild Psychoanalysis Seminars is in its third year in 2010. This quarterly seminar series constitute the first stage of formal Child Psychoanalysis Training. The participants receive certificates of participation upon completion of the seminars and therapists who later apply to the Psychoanalysis Training Program in Psike İstanbul and choose to complete the Child Psychoanalysis Training can account these seminars as a part of their formal training. The seminars are conducted by expert analysts in child psychoanalysis from Turkey and abroad. Each seminar consists of the presentation and discussion of a major theme in child psychoanalysis followed by a case study. DESCRIPTION:CONFERENCE \nNancy Caro Hollander \nConvergences between Ideology and Unconscious Defenses and the Psychic Use of the Ethnic Other in Time of Social Conflict \n16 September 2010 Thursday\n@ 20.00-22.00 \nIn this conference\, the American research psychoanalyst Nancy Caro Hollander\, who is the author of various important works in the field of applied psychoanalysis exploring the psychoanalytical meaning of social traumas\, ideologies\, political cultures\, war\, economics and such\, will address the psychic aspects of the otherization of different ethnic groups at times of social conflict. \nNancy Caro Hollander is a research psychoanalyst with the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. She is also a member of the Board of Directors\, and Trauma Center of the same institution. Professor Emeritus at California State University\, she has been acting as the chair of Research Psychoanalyst Committee\, Education Committee\, at Psychoanalytic Center of California since1999. She is the co-chair of the Working Group on Culture and Psychoanalysis\, a committee of the Federation of Psychoanalytic Societies. She is a member of The Women’s Therapy Center Society\, New York\, and Latin American Studies Association. She is the recipient of the 2000 R. J. Stroller Foundation Essay Prize for her article entitled “Psychoanalysts on the Witness Stand: Trauma and Memory in Latin America.” She has won two film awards with her documentary film Communique from Argentina. Her published works include: Uprooted Minds: Surviving the Politics of Terror in the Americas (London\, 2010); “Ideology\, psyche and the Historical Significance of 9/11” (Psychoanalysis\, Culture\, Society\, 14(2)\, 2009); “A Psychoanalytic Perspective on the Paradox of Prejudice: Understanding U.S. Policy Toward Israel and the Palestinians” (International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies\, 6(3)\, 2009); and “Trauma\, Ideology\, and the Future of Democracy” (International Journal of Applied Psychoanalytic Studies\, 3(2)\, 2006). \nPARTICIPATON: The conference is open to the public. \nLanguage: English with consecutive translation to Turkish. \nVENUE: Psike İstanbul\, Valikonağı Cad.
